Uttarakhand Governor Lieutenant General Gurmeet Singh (Retd) on Friday visited the historic Kakrighat in Almora district and the world-renowned Kainchi Dham in Nainital, performing special prayers and wishing for the peace, progress, and prosperity of the state’s residents.

Spiritual Solace at Kakrighat
The Governor began his spiritual itinerary at Kakrighat in Almora, where he performed a ritualistic Jalabhishek (water offering) and offered prayers at the historic Gyanvriksh (the sacred Peepal tree). He also visited the Karkateshwar Temple to perform a traditional puja.
Reflecting on his visit, Governor Singh described Kakrighat as a sanctuary of extraordinary energy, tranquility, and spiritual consciousness.

”Visiting this sacred place brings immense spiritual peace and inspires one to internalize the profound thoughts of Swami Vivekananda,” the Governor said. He emphasized that Kakrighat holds immense cultural and historical weight as the revered site of Swami Vivekananda’s intense meditation.
The Governor expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to experience the very location where Swami Vivekananda attained spiritual realization. He highly commended the scientific efforts undertaken to conserve and revive the historic Gyanvriksh, noting that preserving this living monument ensures it will remain a source of inspiration for future generations.
Pilgrimage to Kainchi Dham
Following his visit to Kakrighat, the Governor traveled to the world-famous Kainchi Dham ashram in Nainital district to pay obeisance at the sanctuary of Baba Neem Karoli Maharaj.

During his prayers, Lieutenant General Singh sought blessings for the well-being, peace, and welfare of the state, the nation, and humanity at large.

”The life of Baba Neem Karoli Maharaj stands as a supreme embodiment of service, compassion, devotion, and human welfare. His timeless messages continue to guide society in a positive direction,” the Governor remarked.

He further added that Kainchi Dham transcends being just a conventional religious site; it operates as a vibrant epicentre of spiritual energy and community service, drawing devotees from across the globe in search of faith and internal peace.
During his stay, the Governor reviewed the ongoing spiritual and social welfare activities at the ashram, praising the management committee for their dedication to smooth arrangements and excellent hospitality for visiting pilgrims.
