Uttarakhand news: Major Crackdown on Illegal Liquor Smuggling in Haldwani!

Uk positive news: A joint team of the Excise Department carried out a major operation against illegal liquor smuggling and arrested three smugglers while seizing a total of 360 pouches of illicit country-made liquor.
The operation was conducted by the Crime Prevention Unit Haldwani, District and Divisional Enforcement Teams, and the Kumaon Squad. Acting on a tip-off, separate teams laid a trap in the Gaulagate and Shantipuri-Lalkuan areas from around 2:30 AM.
At approximately 4:20 AM near Gaulagate, officials signaled a motorcycle rider to stop. However, the accused tried to flee by speeding away. After a chase, the team successfully caught him. The accused was identified as Gurpreet Singh, son of Amarjeet Singh. During the search, officials recovered 150 pouches of illicit liquor, each containing 300 ml.
In another operation at around 5:15 AM in Shantipuri, Bindukhatta, the team detained a suspicious individual identified as Babbu Man Singh, son of Amar Singh. A search led to the recovery of 140 pouches of illicit liquor.
During interrogation, both accused revealed the name of another person involved in selling the liquor in Bindukhatta. Acting on this information, the team raided the house of Lakhveer Singh, son of Surjeet Singh, and recovered 72 pouches of illicit liquor from his possession.
Overall, the joint teams seized 360 pouches of illicit liquor. Cases have been registered against all three accused under Sections 60 and 60/72 of the Excise Act.
The District Excise Officer stated that the campaign against illegal liquor manufacturing, storage, and sale will continue with strict monitoring and enforcement
